NXP Kinetis KW41Z MCU Wireless Day

A Hands-on Workshop Using Thread and BLE for Low-Power Secure Connectivity

With the rapid deployment of connected intelligence, there are a number of wireless standards being considered for embedded applications. There is also an emergence of new wireless communications protocols designed specifically for IoT applications, which are secure, can help lower cost and extend the reach of connected devices. Among these new connectivity standards are the emerging Thread and BLE mesh network solutions and the already established (Bluetooth® low energy or BLE). These standards provide a connectivity framework for edge node communications and connectivity. As more and more processing is pushed to the edge, it is important to have a robust, secure and responsive platform that can analyze and act upon the wide range of data created.

Join NXP and Arrow Electronics for this workshop to gain practical hands-on experience implementing Thread, BLE and BLE mesh connected applications. In this session, you will learn:

  • The fundamentals of Thread, BLE, and BLE mesh wireless protocols
  • How to create BLE beacons, BLE wearables and other popular BLE-based devices
  • How to create Thread and BLE mesh networks
  • How to use Thread network commissioning applications
  • How to use NFC technology for easy commissioning

During this session participants will receive a free FRDM-KW41Z module evaluation kit and a complete enablement package to immediately start a Thread & BLE connected design.

*Attendees should bring a Windows 7/8/10-based laptop computer and power cord.

*Attendees should bring a smart phone: iPhone 4S or later or Android phone with BLE connectivity and 5.0 or greater OS.
